Communication and Press office
The Communication and Press Office (CPO) facilitates communication within the CMNS and with the scientific community, the general public, the media and public and private funding bodies. The inspiring principle is to increase accessibility to the CMNS and its activities thus improving visibility and promoting a clear image of CMNS for its key audiences.
Key Tasks / Responsibilities
- Coordination of the CMNS public information activities.
- Write and issue press releases, background, talking points and assist in developing feature stories for press publication.
- Coordinate the production of newspaper articles and programs on public media.
- Distribute Public Relations materials.
- Respond to incoming media requests.
- Develop and maintain a media database and proactive relationships with national and international media.
- Interact with research agencies,and donors and liaise with appropriate governmental and local authorities on public information matters.
- Represent CMNS at press briefings, public functions and interviews.
Website
The CPO has overall responsibility in ensuring that the CMNS has a well functioning website structure and a smoothly running news service for both staff and and external audiences.
Newsletter
The newsletter, is sent bi-monthly to keep those interested in the CMNS informed about its activities and development. It features success stories, highlighting people and places of the CMNS, program activities, and institution spotlights.
The newsletter (only in Italian) is distributed as an HTML-formatted email featuring a summary of articles from that month with links to the full story on the CMNS site, and is distributed to the following
- Members of research teams and committees of national and international scientific Institutions
- Members of the public (subscribers)
- Communications contact list

Press Release and Media Inquiries
The CPO will normally take the lead in drafting general CMNS press releases (on a CMNS press release template), or assist members or Group Leaders in drafting specialised press releases. The Office can also act as a resource for external communications offices, helping in collecting information to produce press releases related to CMNS for local distribution.
The CPO iliases with Group Leaders concerning any media enquiries to ensure accurate and fair media coverage to all CMNS members and their scientific contributions.
