Chronic Intestinal Inflammation treatment and colon cancer prevention

Main focus of the Mucosal Immunology lab at the CMNS is to explore new strategies to prevent the chronic intestinal inflammation.

As the vast majority of the interactions with the outside world happen in the GI tract, the intestinal immune response is characterized by peculiar mechanism that favor tolerance to inflammation. Crucial role is played by the dendritic cells that become inflammatory-impaired when exposed to a variety of intestinal factors. These factors are still largely unknown.

Our group is devoted to identify new strategies to modulate the intestinal inflammatory response to eventually cure chronic inflammation and prevent colon cancer development.
